Blowing out the candles 9.25.2011

Even though Reed celebrated his birthday a week early so that his Daddy could be there for the festivities, he still kept plenty busy on the actual day. First, he went with his family to a 5K Fun Run/Walk. Then, in the evening he went with his mom and Diane to a fundraiser at Tiderunners, where he had a great time. Some of his friends from school were there and he got to try out some moves on the dance floor and even had "Happy Birthday" sung to him. To top the day off, when he and Lisha came by our house to get Race (who had been "elected" to not go to the fundraiser ;)) we all sang to him again and he got to blow out more candles, this time in a Flying Saucer! A great day and a fun way to turn 5!

He looks kind of sad here, but he wasn't. I think he was planning how to best get all the candles out at once. ;)

He opted for the experienced, "I've got this" approach. ;)

 

My mother was born on September 26, 1916 and today would have been her 95th birthday. She has been gone for over 13 years now. Like many mothers and daughters, we had our ups and downs, but I always knew that she loved me and I hope she knew that I loved her. I regret that I didn't try harder to understand what life was like for her and wasn't more understanding of all the hard times she went through. I'm smarter now and see things more clearly. Reed turns 5!

Happy Birthday to our sweet little grandson, Reed. You are such a handsome boy, full of life, creativity and imagination, (nearly ;)) always smiling and happy with so many great "plans"! We love you and thank God every day for sending you to our family! Have a wonderful birthday and a great year being 5! Wow!

One too cute three year old!

Today is Reed's 3rd birthday! We are so very blessed to have this little guy in our lives. Not only is Reed as cute as can be, but he is such a sweet, fun loving little boy. He has a wonderful sense of humor and gets a huge kick out of life. He is talking quite a bit now and almost always remembers to say "please" and thank you". Smart, loving, giggly and thoughtful, Reed is such a wonderful addition to our family! Happy Birthday, Reedy Boy! We love you so very much!

Joshua's first birthday party

We had a great time at Joshie's party. Jenn and Heath put up a big tent and even had a water slide. We ate lots of good food (don't we always?) and enjoyed catching up with friends and family and even meeting some new friends! It was wonderful to watch all the little ones having so much fun together. Later, the slip and slide was brought out and Jenn and Lisha entertained us all with their skills.

Just one short year and you've already brought us all so much joy. From your flirty expressions and navy blue eyes to your adorable little walk (which you learned how to do at 8 months!), we can't help but smile whenever we are with you. Thank you, Joshua for coming into our lives. We are so blessed to have you here. Happy 1st Birthday, little guy! We love you so much!
